Msc in Public Health

Entry requirements for all:

A good Bachelor of Science degree or medical degree shall be normally required. The major categories of MPH students shall be:

BSc graduates(biological or physical sciences) with a view to a research career in biochemistry.

Qualified doctors and others teaching, or intending to teach in medical or other health schools (particularly in developing countries). 

Persons with BSc or professional qualifications and experience working in the nursing or paramedical and allied fields.

Duration of the program:

The Master of Public Health degree course shall run for 24 months.

PART I: The first 15 months shall be devoted entirely to course work with lecture content from facilitators. All MPH students will take seven core public health courses in the first 7 months (Module 1 to 3). The students will have three advanced courses namely Communicable and Non-communicable Diseases, Health Policy&Management, and Global Health challenges in the next 5 months (Module 4). The students will then choose one optional course from population studies, Health Policy and Management, Epidemiology and Health Promotions in the last 3 month (Module 5). It is a requirement that students present their dissertation – both orally and in written report form during the second year. The Dissertation period will last for 9 months (Module 6)

PART II: In the last 9 months, the students shall undertake a research project and submit the dissertation for examination.
